Manuscript Types

Journal Software, Hardware and Information Technology (SHIFT) publishes peer-reviewed scholarly articles within the journal’s Focus and Scope. All manuscript types undergo the same double-blind peer review process described in our Peer Review Process. The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:

1. Original Research Article
Reports original and previously unpublished research findings, including the development, implementation, or evaluation of methods, techniques, tools, systems, or applications. An original research article must contain a clear state of the art, research gap, and research objective, and follow the structure Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion. Original research articles constitute the main content of the journal.

2. Review Article
Provides a comprehensive and critical synthesis of the current literature on a specific topic within the journal's scope, such as a systematic literature review or a state-of-the-art review. A review article must not merely summarize previous studies. It must contain a dedicated section presenting the authors' own analysis, critical perspective, and original contribution, and it must be supported by an adequate number of recent references. The number of review articles in each issue is limited.

General requirements for all manuscript types

  • Manuscripts must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration by another journal.
  • Starting from Volume 7 No. 1 (2027), all manuscripts must be written in English.
  • Manuscripts must follow the Author Guidelines and the journal's manuscript template.
  • References must use the IEEE (numbered) style, with a minimum of 15 references, predominantly primary sources published within the last 10 years.
  • Each manuscript must include four declaration statements before the References: Declaration of Artificial Intelligence Use, Authors' Contributions, Funding, and Conflict of Interests.

The journal does not publish editorials, book reviews, news, or announcements as scholarly articles.
